EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ACT

At Beau Andre Homes we believe that it is fair for opportunity to be equal for all. As a growing business, we as an employer have a positive duty to take reasonable proportionate measures to eliminate discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying and victimisation. Through employee communication we are continually making improvements to our work environment to ensure fairness for all.

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission is an independent organisation. Their role is to protect and promote human rights in Victoria and do this through a range of functions and services under Victoria's three human rights laws.

  • The Equal Opportunity Act 2010

  • The Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001

  • The Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006

The Equal Opportunity Act 2010 aims to make public life free from discrimination, sexual harassment and victimisation. The law provides avenues for people to resolve complaints, and outlines the Commission’s role in helping government, business and the community to identify and eliminate discrimination, sexual harassment and victimisation.

As a business it is important to have a written equal opportunities policy which is openly displayed and which all employees including new starters are trained and inducted in.

Our EEO policy outlines;

  • a clear indication that unlawful behaviour will not be tolerated

  • examples of the kinds of behaviour which are unacceptable

  • how employees might manage discrimination and sexual harassment

  • how complaints will be handled and escalated when necessary

  • protections against victimisation

  • how the business will handle reasonable adjustments

  • flexible working arrangements for parents and carers.
